UBE Awarded “Net Zero Phase 2” Certificate, Reinforcing Commitment to Sustainable Greenhouse Gas Reduction

On August 20, 2025, Ubon Bio Ethanol Public Company Limited (UBE) was awarded a certificate under the “Net Zero through Science Based Target (Phase 2)” program, organized by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) in collaboration with the Center of Excellence for Eco-Energy and Eco-Economic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University. This recognition affirms UBE’s systematic approach to greenhouse gas management and reduction.
Ms. Karnnaporn Karnnasuta, Executive Vice President of Corporate Sustainability and Government Affairs, emphasized that the company’s participation in the Net Zero initiative aims to encourage Thai industries to set structured targets and action plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with international standards. She noted that UBE’s participation reflects its strong commitment to balanced growth across economic, environmental, and social dimensions.
UBE has set targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across all scopes (Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3) by an average of 3% annually and has committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2050, following the Net Zero Pathway established by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization. The company’s action plans include increasing the proportion of renewable energy, enhancing production efficiency, and adopting clean energy alternatives. The program brings together over 22 organizations across five industrial sectors, with UBE representing the Energy & Utilities sector, which plays a critical role in Thailand’s national greenhouse gas reduction efforts.
During the event’s panel discussion, Ms. Karnnaporn shared insights on UBE’s strategies for emission reduction, addressing opportunities, challenges, and recommendations for driving climate action. She stated: “Participation in the Net Zero through Science Based Target (Phase 2) program not only reinforces UBE’s environmental mission but also serves as a pledge to all stakeholders that UBE will operate responsibly and sustainably, creating long-term value for society and the environment.”
UBE’s achievements under this year’s ESG Rating standards underscore that the company is far more than a producer of ethanol and agro-industrial products. The company is actively driving the transition toward a low-carbon economy, in line with FTSE Russell’s sustainability assessment framework. This commitment supports the maintenance and enhancement of its FTSE4Good rating—a crucial factor in reinforcing investor confidence in UBE’s long-term sustainable growth.
