UBE GROUP Joins Seminar to Strengthen Thailand’s Cassava Industry, Highlighting Farmer Development, Quality Improvement, and Value Creation through Ethanol and Cassava Starch

Ubon Bio Ethanol Public Company Limited and its affiliated companies, collectively known as “UBE Group,”participated in a panel discussion titled “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Thailand’s Cassava Industry.” The session featured Ms. Karnnaporn Karnnasuta, Executive Vice President of Corporate Sustainability and Government Affairs at UBE, who shared perspectives on advancing Thailand’s cassava industry toward sustainable growth during the 2026 Annual Regional Seminar.
The seminar was officially opened by Songtham Pinto, Senior Director of the Bank of Thailand, Northeastern Office, with a keynote presentation titled “Navigating the Cassava Crisis: Learning and Adapting for Survival.” The event took place at Aisana Hotel Korat on March 5, 2026.
During the discussion, UBE Group presented key approaches to strengthening Thailand’s cassava industry across the entire value chain. The initiatives begin with empowering cassava farmers through knowledge transfer on effective farm management, promoting high-yield and disease-resistant cassava varieties, and improving raw material quality management from the upstream stage to ensure cassava roots meet the standards required by the processing industry.
UBE Group also emphasized the importance of increasing cassava value through downstream processing, including the production of fuel ethanol, industrial ethanol, and high-quality cassava starch. These products continue to experience steady demand in both domestic and international markets. The industry plays a vital role in generating income for farmers and has long been a key economic foundation of Thailand’s northeastern region, while strengthening the long-term competitiveness of the country’s cassava value chain.
This seminar served as an important platform bringing together stakeholders from across sectors, including farmers, entrepreneurs, government agencies, financial institutions, and academic organizations. Participants jointly analyzed the current cassava crisis, including plant diseases, price risks, and market volatility, while exchanging adaptive strategies to collaboratively drive a stronger and more sustainable future for Thailand’s cassava industry.
